- Original note accompanying photo from 1980 states: 997 Esquimalt Avenue (Hughes House). Built 1910 for Mr. & Mrs. Alsop. Additions made in 1920`s by granparents of the present owner Mrs. Elspeth Hill. Mrs. Annie Hughes died in 1950 age 96. 1950 - 1979 owner was Miss Margaret Hughes who now lives on Salt Spring Island (age 83). May 1979 Elspeth Hill bought the property. She and her husband (Royce) hope to restore it as it has been neglected for last 20 years.
